The Story
I built ConfRoll back in 2004 during my PhD. I was constantly hunting for conferences in my field and thought: there has to be a better way. After helping organize a couple of conferences myself, I saw both sides of the problem—it was hard for attendees to find events, and just as hard for organizers to reach the right audience.
So I made this little site. It's been running ever since, quietly doing its thing for over two decades. The original Rails 2 code finally got a proper refresh in December 2025, but the idea remains the same: keep it simple, keep it useful.
Still a Hobby, Always Free
ConfRoll is a passion project, not a startup. No premium tiers, no paywalls, no investors. Just a simple tool I built because I needed it, and kept running because others found it useful too.
Organizers can list conferences for free. Anyone can browse and search without signing up. Connecting the academic community shouldn't cost anything.
About Me
I'm Paolo—I have an MSc in Industrial Engineering and a PhD in Management. I was in academic research from 2002 to 2006 before moving on to other things. You can find my old papers on Google Scholar.
